The Undying Cult in "STARLORE"
The Undying is a growing cult of fanatics who have one goal: immortality. The Undying is made up of a diverse collective of scientists, necromancers and scholars, many of whom were expelled from the Magicians Order or the Grand Science Academy. Starting as a mostly political group, they have become more militarized, funding an army of soldiers. The Undying Soldiers are distinguished by their husky black armor. No one is able to see the Undying soldiers faces, and some think they are undead husks who serve unknown masters.
The Undying troops coordinate with a level of synergy that leads some scholars to believe that they are all reanimated by the same necromancer, or utilize networked mind sharing technology. The sense of viciousness suggests that the Undying minions have some emotion and are not just drones of a hyper-intelligent master.
Alliance instruments show that energy and small amounts of matter are siphoned from the Undying troops. It is unclear where the energy goes; it travels through a plane of subspace that instruments are unable to pinpoint. While who or what is siphoning the energy from the Undying troops is unknown, they utilize a high grade technology that suggests the application of Archon technology or something far more sophisticated and sinister. The Undying employ spies as well as soldiers, and have operations active throughout the galaxy. It is uncertain if they act out of piety, but nevertheless they act with brutality and cunning. The Undying organize their troops into the following classes: Husks, Soldiers, and Witches.
The grunt of the assault forces is made up of mainly Husks, which appears to be what used to be a living person who has been brought so close to the brink of death using the the same necromantic technology. Husks appear mindless and brutal, attaching with razor sharp claws and firing cascades of plasma from their glowing eye.
The Husks are lead by Undying Soldiers who are much larger than Husks and are heavily armored. They move with a gravity of charisma and determination and are a force to be reckoned with on the battlefield.
Finally the Undying Witches are undead sorcerers dedicated to Dark Magic. They have Powerful curses and Elemental Spells that ravage the battlefield. Off the field, they are skilled and research and study relics and sciences that further their quest for perfecting immortality.
The Undying are a problem for the galaxy because they have and will violate Life-Rights laws to achieve their goals. They will stop at nothing to uncover the secrets of eternal life, and will cause destruction to anything that gets in their way.
